Puerto Rico Medicaid Programs
Puerto Rico Health Care Plan
This is a mandatory managed care program designed to help people with low income, including many adults and children with disabilities, cover their medical expenses. Families or individuals whose income is equal to or lower than twice the poverty level in Puerto Rico are eligible, as are many people with disabilities whose incomes may be higher. This plan also has a separate mental health section.
Community: transportation
Health: dental, disease management, early and periodic screening, diagnosis, and treatment, family planning, immunization, hospitalization, laboratory, maternity services, pharmacy, physical exam, physician services, preventive services, surgery, vision, x-ray, mental health services (inpatient and outpatient), substance abuse treatment (inpatient and outpatient).
Social Services: case management
Medicare Platino
This program is designed to fill in gaps in service for people who are also eligible for Medicare under the Puerto Rico Health Care Plan.
Restrictions: Only people who are eligible for Medicaid and Medicare can receive these services.
